DSPS Non-Credit Courses: DSPS 4028, Acquired Brain Impairment - Cognitive Retraining

Students with an acquired brain injury, such as head injury or stroke, learn about basic neuroanatomy and affects of brain injury. Instruction and experience with memory strategies, visualization techniques, time management, and organizational skills are practiced in a group setting. Students participate in activities involving following directions, problem-solving, logic, memory, long-term planning and reasoning skills. Personal, social, vocational and educational changes and adjustments are addressed. Students are generally within two years post-injury, are independent in daily functioning, and have an awareness of deficits. An interview/evaluation is recommended prior to enrollment.

For class meeting days, times and locations, see the class schedule or call the DSPS offices for assistance.
