General Questions about Academic and Progress Probation:

1."How long will it take me to get off probation and what do I need to do?"

There are many factors that influence how long it will take for each student to get off probation. We will answer this question in greater detail when we discuss strategies for removing yourself from probation.

2."What if I think the college made a mistake placing me on Academic or Progress Probation?"

Contact a counselor at your campus to confirm that the mistake was made, and the mistake will be removed from your transcript.

3."This is my first semester back at CCSF and I got this letter telling me I’m still on probation; it is extremely discouraging to me to discover that my poor school work from so many years ago is counting against me. Can I erase my prior CCSF records and start fresh?"

No, your prior records are a permanent part of your college transcript.

However, some grades can, in time, be deleted from your G.P.A. calculation. We will discuss this in greater detail when we discuss the Academic Renewal and Course Repetition policy in the next section.

4."Is Academic Probation more important than Progress Probation?"

No, you can be dismissed from the college for either Progress or Academic Probation.

5."What does it mean if I got an Academic and Progress Probation letter?’

It means you’re on both types of probation and it means you need to improve your grades and reduce the percentage of "W’s," "INC’s," and "NC’s" you receive.
