Writing Workshop: The Art of Short Fiction

In this generative writing class, we will practice writing fiction within a range of short formsfrom the prose poem (or short-short) to more developed stories. We will examine models of short fiction from past and present writers: Kafka, Anchee Min, Kate Braverman, Borges, and more. We will find inspiration in various sources, including traditional and modern work.

Writing Workshop - Writing Creative Non-Fiction in a Stream of Consciousness

In this one time, three-hour workshop, discuss the meaning of creative non-fiction and stream of consciousness writing. Then apply these definitions to live, in-class writing, in response to specific jump-off prompts provided from the teacher. In-class writing will be required, but reading finished pieces aloud will be optional.
