What's New
  • Perkins 2009-2010:

    The Federal government recently renewed the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (formerly VTEA). The Act was reauthorized through 2012 to continue the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive CTE programming at community colleges. In 2007-08, CCSF undertook an extensive process to develop a new five-year local plan that will guide CCSF’s implementation of this funding for the life of the legislation. Only those programs that participated in developing the Five-Year Plan during Spring 2008 are eligible to apply for funds. If you have questions your program’s eligibility status, please contact Perkins Program Coordinator Andrea Speraw before developing your proposal.

    Please see the new documents drafted for applying for funds for the 2009-2010 year:
    * Request for Proposal
    * Department Application
    * Collaborative Application
    * PowerPoint for the 8/14/08 Workshop -- Carl D. Perkins Career & Technical   Education Act of 2006: What’s New and How to Complete the 2008-09 Application

  • *New! Many faculty have asked to see a model proposal. The CCSF Office of CTE drafted a proposal based on a fictitious program that includes important Perkins elements. Click here to see the application.

  • The Offices of Vocational Education and Institutional Advancement present a new Industry Advisory Board (IAB) Resource Guide.  This document offers guidance for engaging and sustaining contact with your industry partners and offers “off the shelf” samples of communications for interaction with IAB members.  The Guide also outlines support you can receive from our Offices for IAB engagement including meeting planning and facilitation, funds for food and member recruitment.  Thank you to all departments that responded to our initial IAB survey in Fall 2006 and provided input to the IAB Resource Guide and much appreciation to the Research Office for assistance with survey collection and analysis

    This document is a work in progress and we hope to grow it over time with additional examples of CCSF best practices.  If you have tried and true ways you engage your industry partners in ongoing program development and improvement, please send your suggestions to Gohar Momjian (gmomjian@ccsf.edu).
