Occupational Interest Survey: ESL Curriculum

If you are a CCSF ESL teacher interested in introducing your students to a valuable career decision-making resource designed specifically for limited English speakers, you may want to try the new Occupational Interest Curriculum. In addition to offering students the language skills necessary for completing the Occupational Interest Survey, a fun online survey that identifies their interests and matches them to suitable CCSF occupational programs, you will teach them a wealth of information about careers, City College occupational programs, labor market information... and much more. The 16 lessons were designed for students in ESL levels four and higher; you are free to select any or all lessons based on your student needs and language levels. The lessons were designed by a highly experienced CCSF ESL instructor; initial student responses have been overwhelmingly positive. By offering this curriculum to your students, you may be instrumental in helping them identify career and educational plans to fulfill their goals.

If you are not yet familiar with the Occupational Interest Survey (OIS), it can be located at www.ccsf.org/voced/ois.

If you choose to try the curriculum with your students, once you have completed it please send us your feedback. We are interested in learning ways to improve it to best serve your students. With questions, please call (415) 550-4440.
