will this program do for me?
Graduates work in private industry, the public sector, or for institutions such as schools and colleges. Others become self-employed or creatively combine their horticultural skills with current occupations to increase their income and job satisfaction. Besides going directly into careers, Environmental Horticulture students can prepare for advanced degree programs such as Urban Forestry, Landscape Architecture and Horticultural Therapy, among others. What kind of job can I get once I complete the program? Examples of career possibilities for Program graduates include: Greenhouse and Nursery Production, Arboriculture (Tree Care), Landscape Design and Installation, Residential and Estate Gardening, Pest Control Specialist, Irrigation Specialist, Nursery Specialist / Propagator, City Gardener, Retail Nursery Sales, Interiorscape Design and Maintenance, Golf Course Maintenance and Park Supervision. How much can I earn in this career? Salaries vary upon experience and training. Requirements for the degree are to complete the core courses including Introduction to Horticulture, Horticulture Machines, Business Practices, Soils, Pest Control, Fall/Winter Plant ID, Spring/Summer Plant Id and Speech 11. Courses specializing in Commercial Cut-Flower and Greenhouse Production include, Greenhouse Operations, Plant Propagation, Work Experience, Landscape Construction, Greenhouse Crops, Flowers and Foliage ID and Landscape Design.
