What will this program do for me?
This program will teach you the requisite skills needed for success in all aspects of the fashion industry. The curricula offers students interested in fashion merchandising, design and technology as well as image consulting, specialized programs and training for career advancement and employment. For those with an Associate, Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in other areas, this program is also recommended.

What kind of job can I get once I complete the program?
The jobs that students receive upon graduation depend on their career goals and practical experience. Fashion Merchandising graduates may accept positions as sales associates, retail buyers, managers, visual merchandisers, stylists, fashion show producers, special events consultants, fashion forecasters, publicists, and showroom assistants. Design training for Fashion Design & Technology graduates can lead to careers as fashion illustrators, designers, assistant designers, patternmakers, product developers and entrepreneurs. Image Consulting majors can work as personal shoppers, image consultants, and salespeople. Refer to Occupational Outlook Handbook for salary and job outlook information.

How much can I earn in this career?
Salaries vary depending on experience and position. The range is from $25,000-$100,000+ a year. Please refer to the Occupational Outlook Handbook for more information regarding salary and job prospects.

How long will the program take?
Certificates of Completion take from 1-2 years to complete. Associates of Arts degrees take at least 2 years to complete. Go to Program Curriculum for specific course requirements.

Classes are held at the Ocean, Evans, and Downtown Campuses. Please refer to Schedules for Credit Classes for more information on class times and locations.

What times are classes offered?

Fashion classes are offered Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Please check the Schedules for Credit Classes for more information on specific class times and locations.

When do classes start?
Check the Schedules for Credit Classes for important dates. Otherwise, classes start mid-August for Fall semester, mid-January for Spring semester, and June for Summer sessions. For more information, please call the Admissions & Records office at (415) 239-3285.
