What will this program do for me?
The program will teach you the fundamentals needed to work in the
Travel and Tourism industry.
What
kind of job can I get once I complete the program?
The Travel and Tourism program prepares students for jobs with the airlines as reservation agents,
marketing representatives, customer service personnel to name just a few of the jobs, the same kinds of
jobs with hotels, tour companies, cruise lines, consulate and tourist information offices and with
travel agencies (corporate, leisure, special interest, group or meeting and planning agencies). Many of
the students enrolled in this program are pursuing a second career, so careful evaluation of their current
job skills help determine where they fit into this quickly changing and growing industry.
How
much can I earn in this career?
Depending on your language and managerial skills and travel experience,
salaries start at $1000 or more per month and can increase to $4000
or more per month. Please refer to Occupational Outlook Handbook for current information on salary and job prospects.
How
long will the program take?
The certificate program can be completed in 1 year, the A.A. in 2 years. Please refer to Program Curriculum for more information.
Where
will classes be held?
All classes are taught at the Phelan Campus, mostly in the evenings. Destination USA/Canada is taught Tuesday/Thursday mornings at 8:00 am - 9:30 am.

What
time of day are classes offered?
Destination USA/Canada is taught Tuesday/Thursday 8:00 am - 9:30 am.
All other classes are 6:30 pm or 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm or 10:00 pm Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Refer to Schedules for Credit Classes for class times and locations.
When
do classes start?
Fall Semester starts in August and ends in December. Spring semester
starts in January and ends in May. All classes are for credit only. Refer to Schedules for Credit Classes for class times and locations.

do I enroll?

What
are the requirements for certification?
Five classes or 15 units are required for each certificate. Please check the Program Curriculum to learn more about requirements.

much money can I expect to spend?

Information for specifics on costs. One textbook
is used for both the TRTV 157 and TRTV 159 classes, and one textbook is used
