Fall 2006… Volume VI
The new CDPC webpage now offers students interested in short term goals and/or
CCSF certificates, a chance to view occupational information in either English
or Spanish. Éxito = Success is a short questionnaire that assists students
in finding occupations in their interest areas.
Holiday Job Recruitment
The Career Center Can Take You Places!
This year’s Holiday Job Fair
will be held on Wednesday, October 25th from 12:00pm to 2:00 p.m. in the
Tastebuds section of the Student Cafeteria
on the Ocean Avenue Campus. This event will provide CCSF students the opportunity
to gather information about holiday/seasonal employment. Employers will
be available to inform students about the application process as well as
the
types of positions that are available within their organizations. Students
can meet face-to-face with employers to get helpful tips on their job search
as well as ask questions regarding career opportunities.
This event is sponsored by the Career Development and Placement Center. CDPC
will be distributing an updated 2006 Holiday Job Resource Guide to all participants.
If you have any questions, feel free to come by the Career Center in Science
Hall, room 127 or call (415) 239-3117.

Conducting an Informational Interview
There are many ways to explore a specific job, but one of the best
is to conduct an informational interview. This is an opportunity
to talk to someone that can answer questions about the job, employer
or profession that you are interested in. The following are a number
of questions that you might ask to help you evaluate the career of
your choice.
How would you describe a typical day for you?
What education or training did you need for this job?
What skills or talents did you need for this job?
What personal qualities contribute most to success in this job?
What do you see as the current and future employment opportunities
in this field?
What do you like most about this job?
What would you like to change about this job?
Would you suggest other people that I might visit or interview?
