African American
Achievement Program
|
C.J. Walker |
AAAP is based upon an Afrocentric psychological, sociological, and political value system, which prepares and challenges students to be successful in oral and written communication, critical thinking and library skills. Three levels of English classes provide intensive instruction in college writing skills, focusing on the work of African American writers. The library course develops research and internet skills. An integral part of the instruction is the counseling component, which helps students acquire personal development skills. Both the instructional and counseling components are integrated. Intensive individual and group sessions provide students with educational, career and personal counseling to assist them in making appropriate choices in their respective goals.
