Credit Admissions Process for New Students
To be Admitted to City College of San Francisco, you must be:
  • 18 years or older
  • a high school graduate
  • the equivalent of a high school graduate (i.e. passed the GED or the State High school Proficiency Exam)
1. Apply 2. Take a Placement Test 3. Attend a New Student Orientation 4. Meet with a Counselor 5. Register for classes
  • Meet with a Counselor to select classes

  • Call (415)239-3296 to make an appointment
  • Register for classes via Web4(Online Registration System) (See Online Registration Tutorial for more information)
  • Register for classes in person
You must complete and submit an admissions application to the Admissions & Records Office either in person, online, or by mail.  New and re-admit students who submit an admissions application after the deadlines must register through the ADD process. All students (unless exempted or waived read below for more details) are required to take the English/ESL and Math tests before enrolling in English, ESL, or Math classes or in ANY class with a prerequisite. Consult the testing schedule for dates and times.

Matriculation Exemption or Test Waiver:

  • Matriculation steps may be exempted if a student meets the matriculation exemption criteria. Placement testing may be waived if a student meets specific placement testing waiver criteria. Refer to the college catalog, class schedule or website for a description of Matriculation Exemption and Test Waiver criteria. A student must attend an orientation in person or complete the orientation online after receiving his/her test results. Students can pick up their test results in person 1/2 hour before the in person orientation in Conlan Hall Room 203 or can access them online (by login in to your WebSTARS account)
 
Students must meet with a counselor to plan their coursework before registering for classes. Counselors are available to see new students after their in person orientation. Students may also meet with a counselor by scheduling an appointment or on a first-come first-served drop in basis. Please check the orientation schedule or call the New Student Counseling Department, (415) 239-3296 All students must have a registration appointment date in order to register for classes. Your appointment will allow you to register via Web4, also known as WebSTARS, or in person at the Registration Center. In order for new and re-admit students to receive an appointment, they must complete STEP 1 by the deadline and complete STEP 2-4 by no later than January 8, 2007. Tuition and fees are due at the time of registration.
