CCSF hosts Golden Gate Classic and takes fifth tournament championship

The CCSF Women's basketball team won the very first Golden Gate Classic held at City College of San Francisco. This was the fifth tournament championship for the Ram's and extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games. In the opening round, the Ram's faced visiting Modesto JC and came away with a 84-33 win. The Ram's were led by Courtney Buster (28 pts, 15 rebs) and Brittany Allen (15 pts). In the second round, the Rams faced Glendale JC and again came away with a 73-48 win. The Rams were led bye Mone Peoples (15 pts) and Courtney Buster (11pts, 10 rebs). The Ram's then went on to face San Bernardino Valley College for the championship. The game was a match-up of two running teams who love to fast-break and get out in transition. Fortunately, the Rams came away with a 78-59 win. The Ram's were led by a pair of post-players Monique Calvello (21 pts, 17 rebs) and Courtney Buster (11 pts, 11 rebs). This is the fifth tournament championship for the Ram's in as many tournaments.

The MVP for the tournament was Courtney Buster and Monique Calvello was named to the All-Tournament team.


CCSF wins fourth tournament this year,
beating Foothill College in championship game 64-51

The CCSF Women's basketball team won the Santa Rosa Junior College tournament for the first time in their history. This is the fourth tournament the team has won this year and has extended their undefeated record to 14-0. The first round of the tournament was a re-match of last years tournament championship game. The Rams took on #4 Fresno City College and came away with a 62-57 win. They were led by Courtney Buster (14 pts, 13 rebs) and Mone Peoples (16 pts, 5 rebs). The Rams faced Lassen College in the second round of the tournament winning, 71-63. The Rams were led by Courtney Buster (17 pts, 8 rebs) and Jazmin Holmes
(9 pts, 11 rebs, 6 assts). In the championship game, the Rams faced conference rivals Foothill College. The Rams came away with a 64-51 win. The Rams had a halftime led of 8 points and never looked back. The Rams were led by Jazmin Holms (22pts) and Brittney Allen (13 pts, 5 rebs).

The tournament MVP was Jazmin Holmes and Courtney Buster was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Up Next: The Rams will host there first tournament this year and will play Modesto Junior College, Friday, December 19th @ 8 PM in the first round.

For the second week in a row CCSF Women's Basketball is ranked No.1 in Northern California with a 11-0 record. They will be at the Santa Rosa Junior College Tournament facing No.4 Fresno City College this Thursday, December 11, 2008.


CCSF wins Contra Costa tournament for the second straight year

The CCSF Women's Basketball team won the Contra Costa tournament for the second consecutive year and the 3 out of the last four. The Rams opened up the tournament against Los Medanos College and came away with a 83-46 win. The Rams were led bye Stephanie Truong and Brittney Allen who scored 15 and 14 points respectively. The Rams dominated the boards grabbing 74 rebounds with all four post players grabbing double digit rebounds. In the second round, the Rams faced a tough Siskiyous team but came away with a 69-44 win. At half, the Rams were up 27-25, in the second half the Rams ran away with with the game ending with a 42-19 run. The Rams were up 10 midway through the 2nd half when Mone Peoples hit back-to-back-to-back three points from the left corner and put the Rams up for good. The Rams were led by Jazmine Holmes and Mone Peoples with 22 points and 18 points respectively. The Rams faced Chabot College in the championship game which was actually a repeat of last years tournament championship game. The Rams came away with a 80-60 win. They were led by Jazmine Holmes (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Courtney Buster (13 points and 18 rebounds).

The tournament MVP was Jazmine Holmes and the all tournament team consisted of two other CCSF players, Mone Peoples and Monique Calvello.
