The Pen Pal Project (Fall 2001)

 

"My dad used to take me to skid row missions in Los Angeles and to convalescent homes when I was a kid..."

...to give me the opportunity to help people in need. He died in 1985 but his lessons of service stuck with me. I've been teaching ESL, Literacy and Citizenship at CCSF as well as in a community based organization that I started over 10 years ago in my neighborhood. For the past few years, I've been teaching at the 30th St. Senior Center.
