Denise Selleck has taught noncredit English
as a Second Language at City College of San
Francisco since 1991. She earned her Master's
Degree in TESOL from San Francisco State University,
writing a thesis entitled THE USE OF HUMOR IN
THE ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSROOM .
She has also had stints as a maid, waitress,
secretary, product namer, proofreader, editor,
and journalist, writing about (among other things)
women's issues, office work and safety and Queen
Mary's Fool, reviewed in UTNE READER as "a humorous
academic piece."
She is a fourth-generation San Franciscan and
lives there with the husband, Kevin and dog,
Fergus.
