Internships

Announcement Letter

February 3, 2005

Dear Applicant:

We are pleased that you are interested in applying for an internship in Vietnam during the summer of 2005.

Your completed application, with all the required documentation (discussed on the next page), must be received in the office of the Southeast Asia Business and International Education Center by 4:30 PM on March 14, 2005. Email and facsimile responses will not be accepted. We are located at the following address:

City College of San Francisco
Southeast Asia Business and International Education Center
88 Fourth Street, Room 321
San Francisco, CA 94103

If you have attended some of the speaker series that have been co-sponsored by our Center, you no doubt have learned that Vietnam is a developing country with a highly literate, young and industrious population. In spite of the poverty that does exist in this Southeast Asian nation, there is much hope that Vietnam will eventually emerge as a strong economic power in the world.

The internship program is a result of a grant from the United States Department of Education. Therefore, the program has been tailored to meet governmental requirements and is designed to give the successful applicant a real life international business experience. The six (6) week program is unique to this College.

An intern will represent the College, the City and County of San Francisco, as well as the United States. As our representative of what we hope will be many City College students who will visit Vietnam, we will insist on the maintenance of high standards in the work place, and in your personal life during your visit. Remember that the customs and laws of Vietnam are not the customs and laws of the United States. Therefore, from time to time we will inquire about your status and will arrange for your immediate dismissal and return home should your behavior warrant this action.

If you are a successful candidate, it is our wish that you will find the experience rewarding and meaningful as you begin your career in International Business. You will be notified about the status of your application by March 28, 2005.

We wish you luck!

Sincerely,

Steven Glick, Dean Janice Lee, Internship Program Director
