CCSF receives EL Civics (English Language and Literacy) grant money for teaching units that enable students
to participate more fully in the community
This grant money is used to compensate participating teachers and provide staff development, curriculum
development and educational equipment and supplies.

Funding is awarded for two types of teaching modules:
Citizenship Preparation –
preparation and testing for students who want to become US citizens

integrated into the regular ESL curriculum that empower students to access community resources and participate
more actively in the community
