The Institute for Convergence of Optical and Network Systems (ICONS) was a program in the Computer Networking and Information Technology (CNIT) Department at City College of San Franciso (CCSF) . It was funded, in part, by a 3-year, $750,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) under its Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. ICONS existed to advance affordable training and education in 21 st century Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at CCSF. It ceased operations in September of 2008, replaced by the MPICT Center ( www.mpict.org ).
