I have been teaching at City College since 1991, full-time since 1998.  Previous to coming here, I taught at San Francisco State University and other educational institutions.   My B.A. is from San Francisco State, and my M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.  I believe that history is not just learning facts about the past, but examining the relationship of the past and present.  Curiosity about the diversity of human behavior is the main "prerequisite."    My courses emphasize active critical thinking, reading, and writing, and you will be offered a variety of opportunities to learn the necessary skills and content.
