I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I have a degree in literature from a college in Japan. I came here to study Art History. I have a BA and a MA from San Francisco State University. I have been teaching more than twenty years from elementary school students, middle school students, and college students to adult students in the Bay Area. I have been teaching at CCSF since 1989. I enjoy teaching at CCSF because of the diversity of the students. Being Japanese and a member of the Asian community in the Bay Area, I believe that I have been given a mission to help reduce the gap between Japan and the USA through teaching Japanese language and culture, and to plant seeds for future generations who can be a liaison between Japan and the USA. I am always happy to see and hear from students who continue to study Japanese language as well as Japanese related subjects. I am volunteering at the Asian Art Museum. I am practicing “Cha no Yu”- tea ceremony. These two are my hobbies.
