Italian 15A Objectives: The main purpose of the course is to provide students with a continuation of extensive oral training. Students will acquire more advanced skills in conversational Italian trough communicative and interactive classroom activities. Key grammar structures will be also reviewed. Moreover, the course will promote students’ acquaintance with Italian culture and students’ exploration of cultural similarities and variations between Italy and the U. S..
Italian 15A Content: Italian 15A covers chapters 1-7. The audiotapes, video and CDRom for the course are available at CCSF Language Lab, Rosenberg Library (M-Tr 8am 8:45pm, Fr 8am 4:45pm, Sat 9:00am 2:45pm). Students are required to attend at least two hours per week the language lab. Attendance cards should be submitted to the instructor to verify attendance. Students can also attend the Online Language Lab.
Italian 15A Quizzes and Exams: There will be 2 mini quizzes, an oral Midterm and a Final Oral Exam. If you miss a quiz, you will be required to make it up the first time you attend class again. The Final Exam will be comprehensive, covering the entire material studied.
Italian 4A Objectives: The main purpose of the course is to improve students’ command of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills trough interaction and reflection. In order to reinforce students’ understanding of Italian culture, increase their linguistic accuracy and promote their proficiency, the course will integrate cultural and literary readings to the review of selected grammar structures. The course will be conducted in Italian with an emphasis on communicative and interactive classrooms activities.

Grades: The final grade will be based on attendance and participation in classrooms activities, (15%) written assignments, performance, and attendance in the language lab (30%), quizzes (30%), and the Final Exam (25%). This course can be taken on a credit/no credit basis.
90% -100% A 80% - 89% B 70% - 79% C 60% - 69% D 0 - 60% F
Requirements: Attendance is required, absences over six class hours are considered excessive. It is the students’ responsibility to drop the class if they decide to discontinue
Certificate of Completion The Certificate of Completion in Italian provides students, prospective employers and others with documented evidence of persistence and academic accomplishment in the language. The certificate requires completion of 15 units in Italian. Each course must be completed with a final grade of C or higher or Credit. At least 9 units must be selected from the core list. The remaining 6 units may be selected from the elective units.
