The Orientation is considered mandatory and you must attend to continue in the class.*( some exceptions apply so check with me if you have an emergency and want to continue in the class). It is important to attend the Orientation; we will have our first lecture and class assignment that day and you will introduce yourself in person before you introduce yourself online. Students have said they feel more committed to the class and collaborating with others (which is part of a group assignment) when they have met the other students in-person beforehand.

I would recommend not taking the class if you are not familiar with the online format and can not attend the Orientation. Please consider taking Lern 55 on Successful Online Learning first.

Please make sure you have enrolled in the class by phone, online or in person through the Registration Office before coming to the Orientation . You do not need to contact me for permission to enroll in the class; just come to the Orientation, even if you are attempting to add the class. You will be added if there is room.

If you are a new student or you did not attend CCSF last semester, please go to: www.ccsf.edu/Student_Handbook/enroll.html

This orientation will explain:

  • how to log in to your online course
  • the course syllabus explains content and goals
  • what will be expected of you in the class
  • how to navigate the course
  • how to approach the first assignment which has a mandatory deadline
  • the group project and how to continue working on it after we start it in class at the Orientation. You need to be in class to do the first brainstorming exercise

Time will be set aside for your questions and we will all have a chance to meet each other. If you have other needs or questions please email me at hbaldass@ccsf.edu or leave a message for me at 415.452.5487
