Spring 2010 LERN 50 and LERN 55 students
-
You MAY be able to complete the Orientation for LERN 50 and LERN 55 online if you have successfully taken a prior online course using the CCSF Insight Course Management System. However, be aware that many of the topics covered are course related and not just about the Insight technology. It is preferable for all to attend the on-campus orientation.
-
If you qualify to do the orientation online and you can't make it to campus, please email me for prior approval.
-
If you have another class at the same time, which you can not take off for one evening, or if you are working, or if you have any other schedule which prevents you from attending the orientation, please do not double-book, and use that as an excuse for missing.
-
If you do this, it will be your responsibility if you can not do the work. There will be no more on-campus meetings to help you. Consider signing up during a different semester.

I have been a City College of San Francisco instructor since 1999 and have taught College Success (LERN 50) in the classroom, online and as a telecourse. I also teach Successful Online Learning (LERN 55) to help new online students or those who did not do well in previous online courses.
I enjoy teaching online so that I can reach students who may otherwise not be able to attend college or who do not have time to come to campus for all their classes. This includes a range of students such as those whose family and work commitments make coming to class a hardship or those who are incarcerated.
My goal is to reach all students and include those who may otherwise be excluded.
My educational philosophy is to share my love of learning and also encourage students to overcome obstacles or barriers in their lives which hinder their success. These barriers run the gamut from social hardship to self-esteem. Students learn that they can overcome if they are determined and that they can succeed academically and in life at large.
Aside from my work in Learning Assistance at CCSF, I teach ESL privately and have completed the UCSF ext. TESOL certificate program.
In my leisure time, I enjoy reading about different cultures, walking in nature, writing and music. I enjoy traveling to The Gambia in West Africa where I visit friends and family.
