COURSE OUTLINE
The Swimming class will be based on the American Red Cross – Swimming Program. Listed below is a brief summary of each of the swimming course levels:
LEVEL 4 Students will be instructed in being proficient in the following strokes for 25 yards: Front Crawl, Back Crawl. 10 Yards in the following skills: Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke, Sidestroke. In performing the following skills: Standing Front Dive, Basic turns and Treading water.
LEVEL 5 The following skills will be completed for Level 5:
Alternate Breathing, Long Shallow Dive, Breaststroke - 10 yds, Sidestroke - 10 yds, Underwater Swim - 3 body lengths,
Elem Backstroke-25 yds, Butterfly - 10yds kick, Front/Back Crawl - 50 yds.

CLASS PROCEDURES
Class officially begin at 10 minutes past the hour.
Before entering pool, sign-in on Roll Sheet and see if there are any handouts or instructions for class. Download handouts from website: www.ccsf.edu/dnagura
There may be quizes during the semester..
After entering pool, begin workouts posted for you.
You must sign in on Roll Sheet and see Diane to be excused from class.
Class is officially over approximately 10 minutes before the end of theclass period. You may not swim before or after class.
Grading will be based on class attendence and participation. Each student will automatically receive a letter grade (A,B,C, etc.) unless a Credit/No Credit option is requested by the student. Attendance & Grading Procedures
SWIM APPAREL: Each student needs to wear a swimming suit (no cut-offs, leotards, tee shirts will be allowed in the pool). Goggles and swim caps are strongly suggested. Long hair needs to be tied back.
Pool sandals are allowed on the deck. NO SHOES OR GLASS ARE ALLOWED ON THE DECK.
DAY LOCKERS ARE AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE IN WELLNESS CENTER - See Instructor for details.
