COURSE OUTLINE
The Swimming class will be based on the American Red Cross – Swimming Program. Listed below is a brief summary of each of the swimming course levels:
LEVEL 1 - To help you feel comfortable and feel safe in shallow water, includes elementary aquatic skills and safe practices in and around water.
LEVEL 2 - To help you to learn fundamental skills, i.e. floating and independent locomotion skills. Including a continuation of self-help and basic rescue skills.
LEVELS 3 - Additional practice to introduce and improve Front & Back crawl strokes. Intro Elementary backstroke and Treading Water. Basic rules of safe diving and additional safety rules.

CLASS PROCEDURES
Class officially begins 10 minutes past the hour.
Before entering pool, sign-in on Roll Sheet and see if there are any handouts or instructions for class.
Handouts can be downloaded from this website (www.ccsf.edu/dnagura) See 'Detailed Class Outline' below.
There may be quizes during the semester on the handouts.
After entering pool, begin workouts posted for you.
You must sign in on Roll Sheet and see Diane to be excused from class.
There is no extra pool time before or after class.
Grading will be based on class attendence and participation. Each student will automatically receive a letter grade (A,B,C, etc.) unless a Credit/No Credit option is requested by the student. Attendance & Grading Procedures
SWIM APPAREL: Each student needs to wear a swimming suit (no cut-offs, leotards, tee shirts will be allowed in the pool). Goggles and swim caps are strongly suggested. Long hair needs to be tied back.
Pool sandals are allowed on the deck. NO SHOES OR GLASS ARE ALLOWED ON THE DECK.
DAY LOCKERS ARE AVAILALBE FREE OF CHARGE - See Instructor for details.
