Since 1986, Carol Heard has been director of the Writing Success Project, CCSF's TRIO project funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She has a Master's in English (Teaching English as a Second Language) and a Certificate in Composition Studies from San Francisco State University.  Here in the US, she has taught at San Francisco State University, City College of San Francisco, and UC Berkeley Extension.  Overseas, she taught English as a Foreign Language in Barcelona, Spain and Rome, Italy.  She spends her free time prowling in thrift stores and studying jazz piano, conga, and flute.
