The Faculty/Mentor Diversity Internship was established in response to the increasing diversity of students attending California Community College and a recognized need for our campuses to have representative faculties that enhance the teaching and learning environment. The purpose of the Project is to assist in preparing persons to become community college instructors, counselors, and librarians. Interns are afforded the opportunity to learn and practice teaching and interaction teachniques appropriate for community college students, which hopefully will make them more competitive when applying for regular full-time and part-time faculty positions once they fully meet all qualifications.
To qualify, one must not have any previous experience community college faculty experiences (excludes teaching assistantships and other internships) and must: be at least 50% through a Master's Degree graduate program, or posses an Associate's Degree and have five or more years of full-time occupational experience in a specific vocation; or be within one year of obtaining an Associate's Degree and have six or more years of full-time occupational experience in a specific vocation; and hold any required licenses or certificates.
