Swing City
Dancers Club hosts the San Francisco Bay Area’s most popular
“mixed swing” dance events on the third Saturday of most months
(check upcoming events on our main page). Our dances draw one to two hundred West
Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and Lindy Hop dancers to our home at the Ocean Campus of City College of San Francisco. To appeal to all of these dancers, our
dance-style focus may change from month to month (although we always promise
to play a mix of music that is danceable for all swing styles).
Each Swing City
dance begins with an introductory lesson so people who are new to the focused
dance style feel welcome. It is
not necessary to be a City
College student or to
bring a dance partner. Several
times a year we feature live music for dancing or workshops by national
champion dancers. Swing City also organizes field trips to other
dance venues, social gatherings, and occasional weekend retreats.
Swing City
is organized and run by volunteers who enjoy getting to know other people in
the local swing dance community. Swing
City dances and monthly
planning meetings are open to everyone. By attending two consecutive meetings,
you can become a voting member of Swing
City. Benefits of being a voting member of Swing City include:
·
Opportunity to volunteer for Swing City
dances and get free admission
·
Opportunity
to attend member-only dance workshops and special events for free
·
Special periodic discounts on Swing City field trips and other dance
events (including TNGSDC’s Boogie By The Bay)
Once you are a voting
member of Swing
City, you must not miss
more than 2 consecutive meetings in order to maintain voting membership.
