Printing or Downloading a Banner report using INB

Note: These instructions are not a substitute for printing a Banner report to a specific printer attached to Banner. That process continues unchanged.

These instructions apply to users who want to review a report on their monitors and then have the option to download that report or print that report on a printer attached to their desktops, or a network printer that is not banner (unix) enabled.

  1. Run Report from Job Submission
    • Go to Form GJAPCTL
    • Enter the name of the job you want to run in the “Process” field
    • Go to Next Block
    • Enter “DATABASE” in the “Printer” field (necessary to retrieve your job later)
    • Go to Next Block
    • Enter the job parameter(s) needed to run your report
    • Go to Next Block
    • Click on the SAVE icon which is the left most icon on the ICONS bar (third line on the screen)
    • Two file names appear at the bottom of the screen. The number imbedded in those names is the only thing we need to write down
    • Wait for a few minutes to give time for the report to complete. Those few minutes depend on the complexity of the report and usually users already have an idea of the time the report takes to complete

If no report is available yet, a message would appear at the bottom of the screen and you will have to wait for a lapse of time enough for the job to complete to go back to the previous step and double click on the “File Name” field
    • Highlight the report you are interested in viewing and click the OK button.  Users are seldom interested in the .log file, they are interested in the .lis, .l1, .l2…. .l6 files.
