STUDENT SATISFACTION SURVEY RESULTS

As part of the program review process at City College of San Francisco, student satisfaction surveys are administered in the instructional and student service units up for review each year. All departments and programs at the college undergo program review once every three years. City College has not completed a full program review cycle yet, so we do not have student satisfaction survey results on all instructional and student service units. The survey results presented in this section represent a cross section of the instructional and student service units that have already completed a program review.

Long Term Educational Goals of Students Responding to the Instructional Survey
Approximately 4,600 students responded to a Program Review instructional student satisfaction survey administered in 25 departments or programs during the Spring 1996 semester. The long term educational goals of these students are as follows: over 55% stated that their long term educational goal was to earn a BA or higher degree; 13.5% stated they wished to receive an AA or AS degree; 4.9% stated they were acquiring job skills; 3.2% were attending classes to receive a vocational certificate; 1.5% wished to acquire basic skills; and 22% were attending classes for personal reasons. The table below shows the educational goals of students responding to the survey aggregated by school.

Overall Quality of Instruction
45% of the students responding to the Instructional Student Satisfaction Survey gave the overall quality of instruction the highest rating (1 = poor and 8 = excellent). The School of Health and Physical Education received the highest rating of 71.4%.

Student Satisfaction Ratings of Student Services / Administrative Units
208 students responded to a student satisfaction survey administered in the Career Development and Placement Center (CDPC), and 470 students in Student Health in Fall 1995. From Fall 1994, 510 students filled out Financial Aid student satisfaction surveys, and 594 students responded to an Admissions and Records survey. The table below shows the survey results of students responding to the question: Overall, how were you treated?
