I attended Los Angeles Valley College in the Fall 2002 right after I graduated from Chatsworth High School. I had no idea that there was a cheap and affordable way of attending a higher learning institution until a friend of mine mentioned Valley College and all its amazing student services and financial aid opportunities. I took advantage of the Puente program and participated in student clubs and organizations that not only helped me develop my leadership skills but also opened the door for me to work at Valley College as an Outreach Specialist. In about three years I graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree and transferred to California State University Northridge. I will be graduating from CSUN in the spring of 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Chicano Studies becoming the first in my family to graduate from college. If it wasn’t for Los Angeles Valley and all the amazing professors, faculty, and staff, my dream of teaching and giving back to my community would not become a reality.
