Program Itinerary
Description: Visits to Chinese American ancestral heritage sites in Guangdong Province-northern Guangdong (Nanxiong & Meizhou) and the Pearl River Delta (Siyi, Sanyi, and Zhongshan), ancestral homeland of Chinese Americans of Hakka and Cantonese origins. Activies include site visits, cultural events, and lectures on migration history and culture by local scholars. (An additional self-supported short tour of Beijing, June 10-13, after the program ends is available to interested participants).
Eligibility: Participants must be university/college students of ethnic Chinese ancestry. A physical/medical clearance for international travel is required.
Cost: Study tour expenses inside Guangdong, China, are free (supported by a grant from the Chinese Cultural Education Foundation in Beijing). Participants are responsible for round-trip transportation to Guangzhou, plus a participation fee (for gifts to local hosts/sponsors and service gratuities to tour escorts and drivers), visa fee, personal expenses, and travel insurance.
