Save CCSF Classes Flea Market and Sale

As the budget crisis continues in the State and, by extension, at City College of San Francisco, we would like to invite you to help restore classes and increase counseling hours by supporting the first Citywide Save CCSF Classes Flea Market and Sale. Some 800 classes are being cut during Academic Year 2009/10. Thousands of City College students are being affected by these cuts. Your participation in this community event will make a difference. Scheduled for Saturday, October 24th in the street-level parking area of the Balboa Reservoir at the Ocean Campus, the goal of this event is both to raise funds for the College and to educate the public about the shortage of funding for education in California.

Fund raising efforts will include:

  • Renting parking stalls to vendors who wish to offer items for sale.
  • Selling items donated to the College.
  • Soliciting financial support from individuals, organizations, and businesses.
But most importantly, all our San Francisco neighbors are invited to attend this FREE Save CCSF Classes Flea Market and Sale.

Vendors, please read the below information regarding Applications policies and procedures. We look forward to your valuable participation in this community event to Save City College Classes for Spring Semester 2010!

Reservation-Application Policies & Procedures

Reservation Fees & Guidelines

Reservation Fees: Reservations are accepted as pre-paid up to the close of business the WEDNESDAY before the Scheduled Flea Market. Fees reserve you a vending space.

  • Pre-paid Reservation = $35.00/equals 2 standard size parking spaces
  • Plus Size Reservation = $50.00 equals 3 standard size parking spaces
  • Double Size Reservation = $65.00 equals 4 standard size parking spaces
  • Stand-by the day of the Flea Market = $5.00 additional charge / vending space
  • Average Size Space: Standard 2 stalls = 18 x 17 feel; 4 stalls = 18 x 34
  • REFUNDS: No refunds will be given for any reason on the day of the Market.
  • Vendors can make additional tax-deductible donations to the Foundation with a separate check.

Use the application form to reserve the desired parking spaces. When mailing your application, please include:

  • Your completed and signed application
  • Your payment via check or money order
  • A SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED LEGAL SIZE ENVELOPE if you would like your confirmation receipt mailed to you. (Please allow 5 business days.)

Please note that when mailing in your R.S.V.P. it must reach our office by close on the Wednesday before the market or you will be asked to pay the $5 standby fee and asked to get in the standby line to receive a spot. All first-time resale vendors must have a copy of their licenses on file with the staff of City College Flea Market if reservation-application is received through the mail. Attach copies of California Sellers Permit & San Francisco City License to the application before mailing back to City College. If your check is returned to us N.S.F, you will no longer be able to write checks to our market.

Day of Market Operations Schedule

  • Seller check-in/set-up time 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM
  • Gate closed to vendors 9:00 AM
  • Selling hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Clean up 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • You must be in your spot by 8:00 AM or penalties apply. (Please read contract.)

Tardy Arrival

RESERVATIONS ARRIVING AFTER 8:00 A.M. MUST WAIT IN LINE AS STANDBY VENDORS, AND WILL BE REASSIGNED SPACES ACCORDING TO A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE AVAILABILITY THE DAY OF THE MARKET. You will not be allowed to drive or carry your items into the Market after 9 a.m. You cannot sell items at all, if you arrive after 9 am the day of market.

Do not leave before 3:00 PM unless you have cleared it with the Market prior to the day of the market. This is a strict safety precaution enforced on behalf of our pedestrian traffic!

Absence Notification

Please notify the Office AT LEAST 10 Working Days PRIOR TO THE MARKET if you are not able to attend. At time of withdrawal, we will reassign a spot and market date to your account balance, but no refund will be given. If you have not notified the Office and fail to arrive by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the market, your space will be released without a refund or credit to you. Please note: There are no rain checks given for rainy days, and you must still arrive at the market before 9am in order to vend.

Policies, Provisions, and Guidelines

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY!

The College does not allow for selling, display or giveaway:

  • Any type of drugs, drug paraphernalia, Tobacco products of any kind, or pharmaceuticals, legal or otherwise
  • Firearms, working or not, ammunition or explosive devices, weapons of any kind!
  • Knives, dirks, daggers (Penal Code 626.10.). Folding knives with locking blades. No selling of any types of knives whatsoever!
  • Stolen merchandise of any kind
  • Pets or any other live animals
  • Videos or cassettes which are pirated, dubbed, or in any violation of copyright law
  • Pornographic/printed materials, pictures, ceramic sculptures containing any kind of nudity.
  • Items that by sale, possession, or use are in violation of college, city, county, state, or Federal laws and any items that are misrepresented by the seller in any way.
  • No selling of any types of paints
  • Absolutely no food products sold at market without health permit or any other types of products such as pills of any type, toothpaste, mouthwash, foods, anything that requires consumer consumption, any prepared food products or beverages, alcoholic beverages.

Vendors are responsible for obtaining a Seller's Permit if required. Check with the California State Board of Equalization for rules and regulations pertaining to selling of goods and services. Generally, vendors need a Seller's Permit if they sell new or handcrafted items, or sell used personal items more than 2 times in a 12 month period. Seller's Permit information must be updated once every 12 month period.

Animals: NO DOGS OR OTHER LIVE PETS ALLOWED. Due to firm health and safety concerns, you will be asked to take the animal off the premises.

No Postings: The promotion, posting and/or distribution of material are strictly prohibited on the Flea Market grounds. The posting, distribution, or promotion of any current political candidate for re-election purposes is also prohibited. Copies of the College Posting and Distribution Policies are available at the Registration & Information Tent.

Electronics: Please do not play radios or other music so loud that it disturbs your neighbors. If you require use of a portable generator, a low-volume machine is recommended.

Display: Arrange your items neatly. No items shall be displayed directly on the asphalt. Use of a table or blankets are recommended. Do not sell out of your vehicle! The Market Staff reserves the right to control noise levels of all vendors.

The College reserves the right to approve all items for sale, displayed, or given away.

Etiquette: Communicate with your neighbor. PLEASE TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED. Cooperate with your neighbors. This will save time, confusion, confrontations, and most importantly, make our market a pleasurable location to vend your goods and promote a long business relation with both the market management and your vending neighbors. Vandalism, profanity, verbal abuse, sexual harassment, or physical aggression will not be tolerated. Violators are subject to immediate removal from the Market (temporarily or permanently). Subleasing is strictly prohibited.

Parking: All vehicles are to be parked at the back of the selling space, crosswise to the two parking spaces. This method is designed to allow both you and your neighbor’s maximum selling space. Do not park by just pulling in, as you would normally park. This blocks the view of both yours and your neighbor’s merchandise. One (1) vehicle per vending spot. All other vehicles must be parked in customer parking. Lot B is free parking on Flea Market days only.

Cleaning & Release: Do not leave unsold merchandise in your selling space at the end of the day. Trash bags are provided to sellers as needed. Sellers are not allowed to deposit their waste, cardboard, or hazardous materials on the City College Campus. Vendors who violate waste provisions set forth by the City College Safety Department will be cited by the City College Safety Staff. There will be a $25 fee assessed to those who leave their space uncleaned.
