Andre De Cordova has been a Counselor at CCSF since 1997.

He hopes to serve each and every student to the best of his ability.

He has served on the Graduation Subcommittee, in Veteran's Counseling,the Basic Skills Committee, and is presently serving on the Scholarship Committee.

Mr. De Cordova enjoys travel, reading, and cooking.

Jack Sparks

Jack Sparks

Jack has been a counselor at CCSF since 1998. He has also taught several sections of LERN 50 and continues to teach LERN 52 Student Success courses.

It is his philosophy to always put the students and their rights and goals first, to empower them and serve as their advocate when necessary. To that end, in 2004, he originated the first CCSF Student Services Fair which has since become an annual event. He also originated the idea of a Student Counseling Information kiosk which can now be found in Conlan Hall outside room E-205. In addition, Professor Sparks has been instrumental in providing addtional signage to help students better navigate the Ocean campus.

He is involved in the Transfer Issues Committee, Grading Policies Commitee.

Mr. Sparks is a member of FACC and also supports: Friends of the Library, World Wildlife Fund, the Nature Conservancy, and other charitable organizations.

In his leisure time, he enjoys playing guitar and singing, camping, golf and hiking.

Karen Robinson

Karen Robinson

Professor Robinson has been a faculty counselor at CCSF since January 2001. She also works full-time at the College of Marin as a counselor.

She strives to empower students to reach their goals and dreams.

Professor Robinson is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She is also involved in the National Board of Certified Counselors and holds a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling.

In her leisure time, she enjoys photography, traveling and listening to music in Spanish.

Ms. Blumenthal has been a counselor at CCSF since 1991.

Education: B.A., MSW, MPH University of California, Berkeley.

She encourages students to develop their academic potential to the fullest degree possible.

Ms. Blumenthal is a Friends of the Library Board member, on the CCSF Honors Committee, International Education Committee, and Café Musee French Club.

Ronnie Owens

Ronnie Owens

Ms. Owens has been a counselor at CCSF since 1985.

She is a faculty advisor for the CCSF Tibetan Student Association, the Tibetan Student Scholarship Fund and the Entrepreneur Club.

Ms. Owens has published "The Journey of Your Life".

Her hobbies include Hula Dancing, Tahitian Dance, Tap and Belly Dancing.

Sarah Thompson

Sarah Thompson

Ms. Thompson has been a counselor at CCSF for the past 25 years.

Her role as a counselor is to help facilitate her students’ process of achieving their educational goals by providing personal, academic and career counseling. Some of the counseling services she provides include problem-solving, goal setting, advocacy, educational planning, transcript review, probation counseling and stress management counseling.

Ms. Thompson works with all continuing students at CCSF as well as students within the GLBT community.

She is a member of Gaylesta, an association of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender therapists and has a private psychotherapy practice.

Professor Henderson-Brown has been teaching at CCSF since 2007.

She is Coordinator for the Continuing Student Counseling

Department, Coordinator for The College Readiness ScholarshipProgram, and Coordinator for The Richard N. Goldman Scholars Program.

Yolanda Chrystal

Yolanda Chrystal

Ms. Chrystal has been a counselor at CCSF for the past seven years.

She states as follows: "Higher education is a life enhancing experience at the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional levels. My goal is to assist Latinos achieve their educational goals."

Ms. Chrystal has been a member of the CCSF Transfer Issues and Vocational Education Committees. She has created and presented a series of five workshops on cultural adjustment for the Latino students at Mission Campus.

Prior to her employment at CCSF, Ms. Chrystal co-authored an adaptation of Stanford University's Arthritis Self-Management book for the Hispanic population. She also co-created MIRHE, an outreach organization formed to provide health education services to youth in the Mission district. Ms. Chrystal co-produced an educational film about women's reproductive health and has organized health fairs in various San Francisco communities.

She is a current member of the California Association of Career Development Professionals and the American Public Health Association.

What Nancy loves most about working in a community college is that students are there to make a change in their lives. Change brings opportunities. As a counselor, she has a chance to help others discover their strengths and develop self-confidence in the process of attaining their goals.

Though she has worked as a counselor at CCSF only since 2007, she has worked as a community college counselor since 1989 at other colleges. In addition to counseling students, she teaches LERN 52B and serves as the Co-Chair of the AB 540 Campus-wide Committee. She is also a bilingual/bicultural counselor in English and Spanish and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In her leisure time, she loves the arts, dancing, gourmet cooking, running, traveling and reading
