ASC Recognition: Creating Clubs
Starting a Club
New and continuing clubs alike, must complete all steps of the recognition process each semester. Below you will find an outline of the recognition process as well as some advice for those starting or renewing a club.
Renewing a Club
A campus club is great way to develop leadership skills, and for that reason it is also a big commitment. Before you begin the recognition process, make sure you understand club responsibilities. Look over the returning officer and advisor trainings (below) to get a better idea of how campus clubs function. Be aware that to start a club you will need 10 student members and one faculty person to act as your advisor.
The Recognition Process
The recognition process is slightly easier for clubs that have been around before. You are required to fill out less sections of the e-packet and if your officers were trained before, they can skip the orientation and complete an online PowerPoint instead. Don't let the shortcuts distract you, all recognition steps still must be completed by the appropriate deadlines.
