ASC Recognition: Creating Clubs

Starting a Club

New and continuing clubs alike, must complete all steps of the recognition process each semester.  Below you will find an outline of the recognition process as well as some advice for those starting or renewing a club.

Renewing a Club

A campus club is great way to develop leadership skills, and for that reason it is also a big commitment.  Before you begin the recognition process, make sure you understand club responsibilities.  Look over the returning officer and advisor trainings (below) to get a better idea of how campus clubs function.  Be aware that to start a club you will need 10 student members and one faculty person to act as your advisor.

The Recognition Process

The recognition process is slightly easier for clubs that have been around before. You are required to fill out less sections of the e-packet and if your officers were trained before, they can skip the orientation and complete an online PowerPoint instead.  Don't let the shortcuts distract you, all recognition steps still must be completed by the appropriate deadlines.

  1. Hard Copy Club Packet (available in the ICC office SU213) must be submitted to the ICC Office by the specified deadline
  2. E-Packet (below) must be emailed to the ICC office by the specified deadline
  3. Club Training: Club President, Treasurer, and ICC Representative must complete a training with the VP of ICC. Training dates can be found on the ICC home page and on the ICC bulletin board in the Student Union. Returning officers may complete the Online Club Officer Traning (below).
Club Advisor must complete the Club Advisor Orientation PowerPoint (below) and notify the Dean of Student Activities and cc the VP of ICC upon completion.
Reference the A.S. and District Financial Guidelines Overview for any questions regarding club finances, additional allocations, spending club money, and receiving reimbursements (below).
  4. A Club Representative must be present at an ASC meeting for official club recognition. Meetings are Wednesdays at 2pm in the Student Union room 208
