Matriculation Services for Faculty and Staff

The Office of Matriculation and Assessment coordinates the process for the review and approval of prerequisites, corequisites, and advisories, and limitations on enrollment.  It maintains the Prerequisite Review Schedule for CCSF credit programs and provides technical assistance to those responsible for writing of review documentation and those charged with scrutinizing completed documentation.  It facilitates the flow of review documentation between the instructional departments and the Curriculum Committee.  The Office of Matriculation and Assessment, in consultation with department chairs and coordination with the Office of Admissions and Records, facilitates the enforcement of pre/corequisites either at the point of registration (through Banner) or in the classroom.

California Community College Matriculation regulations in Title 5 require colleges to establish necessary and appropriate course and program prerequisites, corequisites, advisories, and limitiations on enrollment to enhance a student's likelihood of success.  They also require that colleges adopt a process for reviewing these requisites to assure that they are valid (e.g. not keeping potentially successful students out of courses and programs).  Requisites are to be reviewed and justified at their inception and every six years thereafter.  The department in which the target course is offered is responsible for conducting the review and producing the written justification.
