Welcome Letter

Nadine Rosenthal

Welcome to the Learning Assistance Center at City College of San Francisco. We are here to provide academic support so that you may succeed in our academic goals with ease. Our staff emphasize helping students strengthen their self concept, increase their sense of control over their education, set realistic goals, and accept responsibility for their own learning.

Programs

Our programs include academic tutoring, an open-access computer lab, and college success courses designed to assist you in your quest to successfully complete your educational goals.

Staff

Our LAC staff includes faculty, professional staff and student assistants who take pride in their work and strive to provide top notch academic support services for CCSF students.

Tutors

Our tutors share their knowledge of their subject. They work to provide an active learning experience for their students by explaining difficult concepts and providing examples for exploration. Tutors encourage, inspire, motivate and enable students to develop confidence in their academic abilities. The goal of tutoring is to enable students to become independent and fearless lifelong learners eager to explore learning and create lives that will inspire others.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a supportive environment that promotes active learning and encourages collaboration among members of our diverse community.

Toward this goal, we assist students in achieving their academic, vocational, and personal goals through our academic-support program offerings: student-centered peer and professional tutoring, college success courses and workshops; peer-collaborative small groups; and an open-access computer lab.

Thank you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your ideas, questions, and concerns.
