Who We Are

The Language Center offers numerous resources to supplement and enhance students' foreign language learning.  Faculty support is available during all hours of operations at the Ocean Campus (and hours noted below at Downtown and Mission Centers) to direct you to language-specific resources and to assist you with using language-learning technologies in all credit foreign languages:

  • American Sign Language
  • Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Pilipino
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Modern Greek in the non-credit program through Continuing Education.

The Language Center also offers a collection of textbooks, workbooks, and media supplements for almost all foreign language credit classes. These materials may be checked out for use in the Language Center facility only.  The Downtown and Mission Centers also offer a variety of textbooks and workbooks, depending on the classes offered at those Centers.

Placement (Advisory) Tests

Students may take an advisory placement test to determine which class would be the best fit for their language skills and educational goals.  Click on the links for complete information:
