OSA Waivers of College Rules & Regulations

What is a Waiver of College Rules & Regulations?

A Waiver of College Rules and Regulations is a form provided by the Office of Student Affairs as a way to waive specific college rules and regulations that pertain to students.

Waivers are approved only by the Dean of Student Affairs.

College Rules & Regulations vs. Academic Policies

There are very specific limitations to what can and cannot be waived by our office. Before requesting a Waiver of College Rules & Regulations from the Dean you must be certain that your request is valid. We suggest you meet with a counselor first, to help you in determining whether it is in fact a college rule that you are wanting to waive, or if it is an academic policy.

There are also college rules that cannot be waived because the rule or regulation is set forth by the state education code.

Submitting a Waiver of College Rules & Regulations:

  1. Obtain the form either online or in person (conlan hall E106).
  2. Meet with an advisor if you are not sure about your request.
  3. Fill out the student information section on the form.
  4. Specify the rule or regulation you are requesting to be waived on the form.
  5. Specify in detail the reason for your request.
  6. Attach any documentation regarding the rule and/or regulation to be waived.
  7. Before turning it in, make sure you student record has no holds.
  8. Turn into Conlan Hall, E106.

*Please note: Requests for a Waiver of College Rules & Regulations that are incomplete, not legible, have holds, or are missing documentation that should be attached, will NOT be processed.

Once your request for waiver is submitted, a preliminary evaluation will be done to confirm the validity of your request. It will then be forwarded to the Dean of Student Affairs for final review and approval or denial. Students are contacted with the outcome in a timely manner.

In the event that your request for waiver is denied, you have the right to request an appointment with the Dean of Student Affairs for a second review. All appointments with the Dean need to be made in advance.
