Steven Glick

The Downtown Campus Library at City College of San Francisco has established a business collection in honor of Steven Glick, Dean of the Downtown Campus and School of Business, Dean of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Studies and Dean of Contract Education. Steven Glick’s innovative leadership over the last 16 years, his dedication to our students and the ideals of City College have been an inspiration to all who teach, learn and work with him.

In 1995, Steven Glick applied for and the State of California awarded a contract to the School of Business at CCSF to open the San Francisco Small Business Development Center (SF SBDC).

In the past ten years alone the SF SBDC has counseled nearly 5,000 entrepreneurs with over 40,000 hours of business advice and provided workshops to more than 16,000 attendees. In these ten years, SF SBDC clients have created or retained 3,000 jobs, increased sales by $64 million, received over 200 business loans for more than $22 million and produced $44 million in capital injections. Steven Glick, the founder and champion of this program has helped produce this economic impact so important to the Bay Area.

In recognition of his strong support of the library and his commitment to providing superior educational opportunities, the Steven Glick Business Collection will cover the disciplines of business, law, economics, computer information technology and related subject areas.

Tribute books in honor of Steven Glick may be purchased with contributions of $50 and above. Library staff will select a book in the subject area of your choice and a bookplate will be placed inside the front cover of each tribute book with Steven Glick’s name and your name. We will send a letter to the honoree notifying him of your gift and will also send an acknowledgment letter which may be used for tax-deduction purposes.

Steven Glick Business Collection

Steven Glick led the Downtown Campus of City College of San Francisco from 1993 - 2009. Steven’s tenure as Campus Dean and Dean of CCSF School of Business has been distinguished by increased enrollment, expanded credit class offerings and:

  • In 1995 Steven was awarded a contract to open the Small Business Development Center (SF SBDC). In the last 10 years this program has counseled nearly 5,000 entrepreneurs and produced
    $44 million in capital injections.
  • In 1995 and 1997 Steven organized two very successful fundraising dinners for CCSF School of Business and, with the proceeds, established an annual scholarship fund for outstanding business dept. students.
  • In 2003 Steven began an extensive Downtown Campus remodeling project creating a beautiful new campus entrance, a striking street-side restaurant for the culinary arts dept., new centrally located offices for counseling and enrollment services, a new student bookstore and an expanded learning resource center.
  • In 2005 Steven worked diligently to secure signage for CCSF Downtown Campus. He obtained two high profile signs for the Mission St. and Fourth St. sides of the building.
  • In 2008 Steven negotiated a certificate designation for the Downtown Campus Baking and Pastry program with a resulting dramatic increase in enrollment.
  • In 2008 Steven was presented with a Neighborhood Visionary award by the Yerba Buena Community Development District, the largest and most complex benefit district in San Francisco.
  • In 2009 Steven planned a successful college- wide juried event to commemorate the election of President Barack Obama. Students, faculty and staff celebrated with essays, songs and dance.
  • Steven’s tenure as a public servant modeled a hands on “walk the talk” work ethic. It was evident in his student advocacy and mentorship. The Associated Students Council of the Downtown Campus and their adviser recognizes the quality of his ethical leadership as one of the best at City College of San Francisco.
