About e-reserves

  • E-reserves are electronic documents students can access through CityCat, the library catalog, so they are accessible 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection, and not restricted to library hours or seating availability.
  • E-reserves accommodate many document types, e.g. doc, ppt, pdf, html, jpg, gif, as well as links to Web pages and CCSF database articles and e-books.
  • Password protection is available, limiting access to students in your course. You provide the password to your students. Library staff cannot give out e-reserve passwords.

Advantages of e-reserves

  • We can easily provide you with information on how your materials are being utilized
  • Print materials aren’t subject to wear and tear
  • You can reduce the need to update your course website by linking to your reserves listing in CityCat (the library catalog) and updating your e-reserves each semester
  • Off-campus connection to database articles is streamlined
  • Copyright-free items (such as those you create) can remain in e-reserves from semester to semester, and you need only ask us to repost them and change the password each term
