Library Cards

Students must be registered in the current semester for the student ID card to be a valid library card.

Newly registered Noncredit students without a CCSF ID card may be able to get a temporary library card with proof of registration at their campus libraries.  Please contact the campus library's Circulation department for more information.

ONLINE STUDENTS who cannot come to campus to obtain a student ID card may request a barcode number from their online instructors.  The barcode number will allow access to the library's online resources.

A current CCSF-issued photo ID is preferred for a library card.  Some faculty or staff may have an older library-issued barcode that is still active:  in this case, they may be asked for an additional photo ID to verify their identity when borrowing materials.  For questions about an old library card, please contact any campus library.

Community patrons may be issued a CCSF Library Card upon completion and approval of a community patron application.  These cards are valid for one semester, and must be renewed each semester with a new application. The community patron Library Card provides limited library services only, and is not valid for other CCSF services. Community borrower applications are available at CCSF Library Circulation desks.

Please report lost cards to the library immediately: this will help limit possible unauthorized use of your card. Replacement student, staff or faculty cards may be obtained at the ID office, Smith Hall Room 118.  Replacement ID cards will have a new barcode, and the old barcode will no longer be valid.  Bring the replacement card to any Circulation desk at a CCSF library to update the library's records.
