High School Academies/CTE Programs

Career Academies and Pathways are high school programs that frame academic learning around a career theme to increase student motivation and achievement.

There are three defining features of career academies:

1. A "small learning community" where students take several courses together specific to the academy;

2. A college preparation curriculum with a career theme;

3. Partnerships with employers, the community and institutions of higher education.

With the help of the Career Technical Education (CTE) advisory boards, students complete an internship between their junior and senior years of high school. These internships are related to the career fields they are exploring.
