Faculty/Staff Lab
The TLC Open Lab provides a place for faculty and staff to work on a Mac or Windows PC, use software, scanner, and printers, and get assistance. We are located in Batmale 313.
Note that workshops may take place in Batmale 313, mostly in the afternoons. You are welcome to stay and work if there are extra stations. You may also work in our mini-lab in Batmale 422. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Our satellite mini-lab located in Batmale 422 offers 2 PCs, 1 Mac, and a printer, and is available during all hours that the building is open. Be sure to save work you do in the lab to a flash drive.
Main Lab: Batmale 313's computers have been replaced with updated models-both Macs and Windows PCs. New hard disks mean that any saved files are no longer in the lab (unless you used your network H: drive, which is available as before).
New systems include:
- Windows 7: Faster performance, new login methods
- Office 2007: Completely new interface (yes, we'll do workshops to ease the transition). Produces files that are not compativble with older versions of Office apps - unless you save as the older type. Can save directly to pdf.
- Adobe PhotoShop CS5: Much faster performance and the same vast capabilities.
SPRING 2012: Lab hours are 9 AM to 4 PM.
Our satellite mini-lab in Batmale 422 is open when Batmale Hall is open. You must have a key. [Contact your Dept. Chair for a key request.]
Student Lab Aides are often available to help you with tasks from logging in to the CCSF network, to working on your website. Hours vary from semester to semester according to student schedules.
Lab Aide Hours: During Fall 2011, Lab Aides will be available from every day between 9 and 4 EXCEPT Tuesdays between 11 and 12.
The lab will remain open Monday-Friday 9-4.

When you visit the lab in Fall 2010, you'll see some changes. We are upgrading the operating system and Microsoft Office in Batmale 313. PCs will be running Windows 7. The MSOffice version will be Office 2007. Batmale 422 will remain unchanged. For assistance with the new software go to the Windows/Office page.
Be sure that you save any files you may have left on the machines as both locations will undergo maintenance and any personal files on all machines will be erased.
