In Fall 2013, the Educational Technology Department began the process of upgrading Insight. Insight runs on Moodle. We will be upgrading to Moodle 2.4.
Currently, there are almost 1000 classes that use Insight per academic year. The upgrade process is a major undertaking. Much thought has been put into the timeline and the process. We ask that you read the details on this page carefully and understand the importance of participating in the upgrade process.
All faculty who want to continue to use Insight for distance learning classes and/or for tech-enhanced classes in spring 2014, are required to complete the Transition to Insight 2 training either online or in-person during fall 2013.
August 19, 2013 - Link to sign up for either in-person or online Transition to Insight 2 training will be sent to both the tech-enhanced and onliners list-servs.
August 27, 2013 - Preview of Insight 2 from 2-3:30 pm in MU 398.
August 28, 2013 - Preview of Insight 2 from 1-2:30 pm in MU 398.
September 16, 2013 - Begin Transition to Insight 2 Training
November 4, 2013 - Last Transition to Insight 2 Training
November 15, 2013 - All faculty scheduled to use Insight in spring 2014 will have completed training (either in-person or online).
December 1, 2013 - All online spring 2014 classes are ready for those faculty who completed the Insight Upgrade Training.
December 3, 2013 - Email sent to tech-enhanced list-serv with a link to the Course Rollover Form (only for those who have completed the Insight Upgrade Training)
December 13, 2013 - Deadline for completing the Course Rollover Form
December 20, 2013 - Tech-enhanced classes ready (for those who completed the form by the 12/13/13 deadline)
Transitions to Insight 2 Training
All faculty who would like to continue to use Insight after fall 2013, are required to complete either the online or face-to-face Transition to Insight 2 Training.
Registration for either the online or in-person training must be completed one week in advance. A week is needed to upgrade your class from Insight 1.9 to 2.4.
A online sign-up link, mailed the week of August 19th, contains dates and times for the Transitons Class. Check either the tech-enhanced list-serv or the onliners list-serv. The in-person training will take place in the TLC on the Ocean Campus, room 313.
Flex Credit is available for both online and in-person training.
Learning Outcome for the Transition to Insight 2 Training
An instructor that finishes this course will be comfortable using Moodle 2.4 upgrades for navigation, quizzes, assignments, gradebook, forums, course management, and file management.
