Math Bridge is a one-year-long program beginning each fall semester whose purpose is to assist students in the successful completion of Elementary Algebra (Math 840) and Intermediate Algebra (Math 860). The program focuses on African American, Latino/a, Filipino/a and Native American students, however all students are welcome to apply.
Math Bridge is not a remedial program. The goal of the program is to give extra assistance in the completion of mathematics prerequisites at City College in order to increase the number of underrepresented students who:
- transfer to baccalaureate colleges and universities, and
- enter the STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The extra assistance in Math Bridge consists of a workshop, group tutoring, and other activities that supplement the mathematics courses.
Interested students must attend an orientation and submit an application during the spring semester in order to enter the program in the following fall semester.
The program has two mandatory components:
- Daily algebra class M-F 10-11 a.m.
- Workshop MWF 11-12
- Students enrolled in the program must actively participate in both components.
Contact the Math Bridge coordinator at mathbridge@ccsf.edu for more information regarding admission to the program.
