BMS hires about ten student interns as lab aides or work study each semester. You will learn about delivery/care/maintenance of various broadcasting-related equipment, and you will gain valuable work experience. Come and join us! The day supervisor and the night manager both started their current careers as lab aides at City College.

Interns must be registered in the Internship class BCST 160 (a very valuable career resource course), and be taking at least five additional units at City College. It helps to be a returning broadcast or new media student. Must be detail-oriented, reliable and prompt, able to run up hill, able to lift/carry 25+ pounds, and willing to learn.

You must be approved through the Student Hiring Eligibility Process prior to applying for any City College student job.

Qualifications:    

• Reliable and prompt
• Must be currently enrolled in BCST 160 (2 units) or have completed three semesters of BCST 160 with a final grade of C or higher
• Must be enrolled in a total of 6 or more units at CCSF
• 2.0 (higher preferred) grade point average
• Good English communication skills (reading, writing, telephone)
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral directions.
  
• Preference is given to students who have completed and are currently enrolled in media production courses.

Desirable:

• Familiar with and good at navigating around Ocean Campus
• Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
• Ability to run uphill
• Familiarity with audio/video concepts and/or some technical background
• Completion of and/or concurrent enrollment in 3 or more units within the Broadcast Electronic Media Arts program (esp. BCST 120, BCST 140, and/or BCST 145).

Job Description:

• Under the direction of Broadcast Media Services Classified staff, paid interns deliver, set up, and pick up video production, recording, and playback equipment throughout the Ocean Campus.
• Interns assist with Broadcast Electronic Media Arts student equipment issue and open lab check-in & check-out.
• Interns assist in EATV/BMS/BEMA clerical duties, assist with district audio production, video production, and equipment and production facility maintenance as needed.
• Related duties may be assigned.
