Player Profiles
#1 Crystal Lee - Co-Captain

A Biology Major, Crystal graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco where she earned Defensive Player of the Year and MVP while leading her team to two league championships. She also has played seven years of club volleyball with the San Francisco Juniors Volleyball Club. As one of the captains of the 2010 volleyball team, she led the team in digs and finished seventh in the state, making her the Coast Conference leader. Crystal also earned 2010 City College Co-Defensive Player for digs and was a member of the 2010 All Conference First Team for the Coast Conference. On a personal note, Crystal coaches for the San Francisco Juniors Volleyball Club helping young girls learn, improve and enjoy the game of volleyball. She also intends to transfer to a UC School and earn her degree while continuing her volleyball career.
#2 Christina Lim

A Criminal Justice Major, Christina graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco and in her senior year, she helped her team win the CIF AAA-San Francisco Volleyball Championships. Christina also played two years with the San Francisco Juniors Volleyball Club. As a freshman at City College, she earned State rankings in kills and digs. On a personal note, Christina enjoys dragon boat racing in the off season and is starting her sixth year of competition for San Francisco Dragon Warriors.
#3 Nicole Lee

A Business Major, Nicole graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco where she was a two sport athlete competing in volleyball and basketball while earning First Team and honorable mention honors in volleyball her last two years. Nicole also played five years of club volleyball with the San Francisco Tremors, San Francisco Juniors and Club Slainte. As a freshman at City College, she earned State rankings in block kills (third in Coast Conference) and kills. Nicole was also honored with 2010 Team Offensive Player and 2010 Coast Conference Honorable Mention. On a personal note, Nicole intends to transfer to a Division I school and earn her degree while continuing her volleyball career.
#5 Roschelle Buenaflor

A nursing major, Roschelle graduated from Phillip Burton High School in San Francisco and played varsity volleyball all four years as the starting setter. She earned All-City Second Team honors her first three years and was honored MVP, All-City First Team and Defensive Player of the Year her senior year as well. She also participated in club volleyball playing for Club Slainte, Club Touch and San Francisco Tremors. While a full time student here at City College, Roschelle is attending classes part time at San Francisco State University to further her education. On a personal note, Roschelle loves to bake and intends on opening her own bakery after she attains her degree for nursing.
#7 Precious Sagaiga

A Business major, Precious graduated from Phillip Burton High School in San Francisco. She went on to earn the Theresa Lee Award her senior year and led her team to the playoffs. She also earned First Team honors and MVP at Burton her junior and senior year. Playing three years for the San Francisco Juniors Volleyball club, she also earned MVP honors. On a personal note, Precious also likes to swim and play softball. She is especially interested in transferring to San Francisco State University to earn her Bachelor’s degree and continuing her volleyball career.
#8 Falealii Seumaala

A Criminal Justice/Psychology Major, Fale graduated from South San Francisco High School where she was a three sport athlete in basketball, volleyball and softball. She earned First Team All League in all three sports. Fale also competed here at City College in basketball for Coach Jamie Hayes and Derek Lau (2003-2005) winning a Coast Conference Championship. Fale returned to play volleyball soon after and earned First Team All League. On a personal note, Fale is in hopes of becoming a probation officer or youth counselor.
#10 Nicole Yap

A Marketing major, Nicole graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral High School in San Francisco. A starter since her sophomore year, Nicole led her teams to the Division III Central Coast Section Championships, Div III Nor Cal Champions and State Runner-Ups in 2007-2009. She comes highly decorated with her own personal awards such as: All Tournament Player in the 2009 State Championships, ESPN Rise Athlete of the Week, Nike TOC Photoshoot, All League First Team, the school’s Athlete of the Month, San Francisco Chronicle Honorable Mention, WCAL Second All American Team and All Tournament Player in the 2008 State Championships. Nicole’s club experience was playing for City Beach and Club Slainte. On a personal note, Nicole loves dog walking, photography and swimming.
#13 Ramona Vae - Co-Captain

A graduate from Jefferson High School, Mona was a three sport athlete competing in volleyball, basketball and track & field. On the volleyball court at Jefferson, Mona earned MVP honors for her junior and senior years while earning First Team Peninsula Athletic League honors as well. Mona also played basketball here at City College for Coaches Jamie Wong and Derek Lau from 2004-2006 while earning her Associates Degree. As a freshman in basketball, she earned MVP for the Coast Conference league and made City College history by making the school’s first Elite 8 her sophomore year. She was honored with a scholarship to continue basketball at Notre Dame de Namur University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Mona returned to play volleyball here at City College and earned First Team All League her freshman year. On a personal note, Mona enjoys spending time with family and is very active with her community church.
#17 Christina Lopez

Pez graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco and played all four years of volleyball. She was starting setter and earned the honors of being team captain her sophomore, junior and senior years. During her junior year, she was on the All-City Second Team and in her senior year she made it to the All-City First Team. After high school, Pez attended the University of San Francisco and earned her B.S. degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She was also part of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service sorority. Her seven-year volleyball club experience came playing for San Francisco Tremors, where she was not only the captain of her team but starting setter and led her team to the U.S. Junior Olympic Invitational three times. On a personal note, Pez continues to coach for the Tremors Volleyball Club to help younger girls improve their volleyball game. Presently, Christina is taking prerequisite courses to enter graduate school for physical therapy.
#32 Chris Phillips

A Criminal Justice major, Chris graduated from Balboa High School where she was a two sport athlete in volleyball and basketball. She was awarded the Coach's Award for most inspirational for volleyball and was captain of her basketball team all four years. Her three-year volleyball club experience came from competing for Team Buyaka. During her freshman year at City College, she earned the Most Inspirational Award and finished eighth in digs for City College. On a personal note, Chris also intends to transfer to the University of Hawaii to pursue her degree in Criminal Justice and one day becoming a probation officer.
#43 Monica Bucholz

Monica attended Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco where she competed in both volleyball and basketball. She received achievements throughout her four years of high school in both sports, including Honorable Mention for volleyball and Honorable Mention, All-City First Team and a league championship for basketball. After high school, Monica received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University, studying to become an elementary school teacher. On a personal note, Monica is taking Child Development courses here at City College in preparation for the Credential Program and student teaching. Monica is currently the Girls’ JV head basketball coach at Lincoln High School, as well as the Girls’ Varsity assistant basketball coach. Monica also assists with Youth Volleyball Clinics through the Salvation Army helping young children learn and improve their volleyball and fitness skills.
