Saga Vae Head Coach

Saga Vae begins his third year with City College of San Francisco women’s volleyball program and is honored to be a part of the athletics program. His life vision here at City College is to promote his athletes to a four year institute. Vae is currently rebuilding the program and is confident that this year’s team can win the Coast Conference Championship. In his past two seasons, he has led the Rams to second and third place finishes in the Coast Conference, supporting the progress for his current team’s goal.
Prior to becoming the head coach at City College, Vae was head coach for the South San Francisco High School girls varsity volleyball team for three years, Burton High School boys varsity volleyball team for two years; and San Francisco Tremors Club Volleyball Coach for the last eight years.
Coach Vae also coaches the City College men’s volleyball club team. His own playing experience was previously for the men’s team at City College and playing in the open division for the United States Volleyball Association and Northern California Volleyball Association. His education is from City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University and the University of Phoenix.

Edna Downing Molina Assistant Coach

Edna Downing Molina enters her second season as an assistant to the women’s volleyball program and responsibilities include recruiting, scouting, skill development and fundraising.
Molina played for City College of San Francisco for both basketball and volleyball. During her time here, Molina helped the women’s basketball team win two Golden Gate Conference Championships (1985-87), made history by reaching the regional playoffs for City College and was honored with Second Team All-State her sophomore year. In addition, she was also honored by competing for City College in the Japan Friendship Tour. ForVolleyball at City College, Molina was named to the Golden Gate Conference First Team All Conference her freshman year and continued her play at San Francisco State University.
Molina’s prior coaching experience before City College was assisting the Rams in basketball from 2005-07 earning a first time ever appearance to the Elite 8. At Immaculate Conception Academy (1990-98), Molina coached both Junior Varsity and Varsity teams in basketball and volleyball. In both sports, both varsity teams reached regional playoffs for the first time in school history and also helped mentor athletes to continue playing at the college level.
Edna resides in San Francisco with her husband Pablo and their two daughters, Paolina (8) and Elina (2).

Reo Tafai Manager

Reo enters his first season as manager to the women’s volleyball program. Reo’s responsibilities include statistics, fundraising and managing the team’s strength and conditioning workouts.
Reo is a graduate from President William McKinley High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. His volleyball experience comes from competing and winning in the Junior Olympics Volleyball. He also earned Honorable Mention for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and First and Second Teams for Oahu Interscholastic Association. Reo’s coaching experience comes from McKinley High, Kalaheo High School and Tita Ahuna’s Volleyball Academy (TAVA) for girl’s high school volleyball. Coach Ahuna won a national championship as a player for the University of Hawaii and won national championships as a coach for Hawaii Pacific University from 1994-97. On personal note, Reo intends on competing for the City College of San Francisco Men’s Volleyball Club this upcoming season.
