The Asian American Studies department offers courses at two campuses and serves over 1900 students.
Asian American Studies working with students has organized programs on: How to Do business in China, How to Do Business in Vietnam, Taiwan's Relations with Mainland China, Asian Herbal Medicine, Jennie Matyas and the Strike of Chinese Garment Workers, and Hong Kong and Mainland China and the Incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II.
These programs are produced inexpensively and draw large crowds consisting of both faculty and community. Because students introduce the speakers, handle Q&A sessions, and are extensively involved in the overall production, the experience hones their organizational, public-speaking and leadership skills. It is a unique educational opportunity.
