Workforce & Economic Development
The purpose of the Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) Program is to advance the state's economic growth and global competitiveness through education, training, and services. These are designed to contribute to continuous workforce improvement, technology deployment and business development consistent with the state's regional economies.
The role of community colleges in this effort is to fulfill the workforce training needs of California business and industry through leadership, communication, and liaisons with the private sector as well as with public sector education and training providers. Over 100 Regional Centers have been designated statewide as the primary delivery structure for these efforts. These centers are focused in approximately 10 strategic areas.
CCSF is home to several EWD Regional Centers each of which supports employer and worker needs in its respective industry area. These were awarded to CCSF as a result of competitive bidding with other colleges in District 4; each center provides technical assistance to all colleges within the region.
